Susquehanna Broad Point
-
Bottom half of a side-notched, rhyolite Susquehanna Broad point (3,700 - 2,700 B.P.) broken across the blade.
In the Middle to Late Archaic period, the Wampanoag created new types of points that reflect the changes in both the environment and resource production that were spurred by the warming climate and growth of temperate forest. The Susquehanna Broad Point shown here is made of a type of stone found near present-day Boston and the other points shown here are all other varieties of Archaic side-notched points.
